In Peru, over 15,000 people vanished during the fight against terrorism, yet the government had not ratified the UN Convention Against Forced Disappearances. To push for change, we set out to collect 25,000 signatures to demand action.
With their families’ consent, we gave the missing a digital voice—recreating their profiles on Facebook and Twitter to share their stories and invite people to sign. The campaign gathered more than 80,000 signatures, dominated national headlines, and ultimately led the Peruvian government to accept the UN Convention, ensuring these crimes would no longer go unpunished.
